Women With Lived Experience Advisory Group
A founding principle of the Woman Abuse Council of Toronto is that the voices and experience of women survivors of abuse support its work.
The Women with Lived Experience Advisory Group is an Advisory Group of the Council, made up of volunteers who are abuse survivors. The Advisory Group's role is to integrate women’s voices into WomanACT activities, discussions and events in order to incorporate the experiences and expertise of women survivors of abuse.
WomanACT works toward social change through involvement with other anti-violence social action and justice initiatives in the community, and the members of the Advisory Group will be part of the collective advocacy and activism.
The mandate of the Women with Lived Experience Advisory Group is to:
Members of the Advisory Group are expected to attend the meetings that are held two times a year to discuss the work of WomanACT and potential opportunities for members of the Advisory Group to provide their expertise and experiences to any given initiative/project or discussion.
Please note that the Women with Lived Experience Advisory Group is not a support group. There is an expectation that advisory group members are ready to engage in activities that support policy development, social action and justice initiatives.
