The AIDS Committee of Toronto (ACT) has developed two valuable new tools for service providers:
These resources are designed specifically for service providers to ensure that services and interventions are inclusive of all women as well as creating safe spaces for them.
The document, The WHAI’s Trans Inclusion Pocket Guide, helps professionals understand the social determinants of health that have been identified as increasing trans women’s vulnerability to HIV.
In the other document, Supporting Mothers in Ways that Work, the authors aim to increase awareness and understanding of the psycho-social needs and experiences of women living with HIV during pregnancy, childbirth and early motherhood.
We hope that these tools come as an additional support to all the professionals working with this marginalized group of women.
