On June 2nd 2015, Linda Scott, 65 years old, was found dead with multiple stab wounds in her apartment. The investigation led to the arrest of her 25 year old son a few days later, who was charged with her first degree murder.
Her family remembers her as a woman with ‘spirit and beauty’ while her neighbours described her as a nice and quiet woman.
Femicide by stabbing is one of the most violent attacks a victim can endure but is yet the highest lethal means used in Ontario against women. Ontario counts 191 cases of femicide by stabbing in the last 25 years.
Special thanks to OAITH for putting together the Annual Femicide List. Since 1995 The Ontario Association of Interval and Transitional Housing began collecting the names of women, and their children, murdered by their intimate partners, as a way to remember victims, honour their lives and advocate for meaningful change.
