By Bianca Caputo, WomanACT Social Media Team
On Tuesday September 12th at 7pm, you are invited to the launch of a new book, ‘Runaway Wives and Rogue Feminists: The Origins of the Women’s Shelter Movement in Canada’ by Margo Goodhand!
This event will be hosted at Another Book Story, located at 315 Roncesvalles Avenue in Toronto. See the map below for more details.
This book entails the stories of five groups of women who opened Canada’s first battered women’s shelters in 1973, despite very little money or public support. Their actions triggered Canada to take the lead on the issue of violence against women and created historical changes to many aspects of life. Forty years later, these women describe their untold histories of unforgettable and monumental work.
Do not miss your chance to experience the launch of Margo Goodhand’s amazing novel!
