The Migrant Mother’s Project (MMP) is based out of the University of Toronto and led by Rupaleem Bhuyan. The MMP explores how immigration policies produce gendered forms of inequality that intersect with violence against women, family separation and poverty. MMP is launching a new study called ‘Sponsored Spouses Journeys: From There to Here’, which is part of their ongoing research on ‘How Conditional Settlement Impacts Immigrant Women’. The goal of this research study is to explore how conditional status shaped the lives of immigrants and their families, to hear experiences of conditionality from women and its intersection with forms of violence, and to identify strategies for social action to improve access to services and human rights for all immigrants to Canada. MMP is looking for people to participate in their study who answer ‘yes’ to the following:

However, the Ombudsman's office first needs evidence about whether non-status persons are having trouble accessing City of Toronto services.
RNSWN is doing a survey to learn more about experiences with accessing City of Toronto Services. They will use the results of the survey as a basis for the feedback they give to the City of Toronto Ombudsman. The hope is that this survey and the resulting feedback will contribute to the improvement of access to City of Toronto services for people without status. The survey is available by clicking on this link The survey is confidential and should take about 5 minutes to complete. The deadline for responding to the survey is July 31, 2016 at 11:59 pm. Please feel free to share the survey with other community members or service providers who have experience with these issues. If you have any difficulties with the survey, contact RNSWN at rightsofnonstatuswomen@gmail.com. Your participation is very much appreciated by RNSWN! |
