As the holiday lights appear and the festive decorations materialize, let's use this joyous time of year to bring compfort to those around us. December 6th is a far from joyous day as it is the National Day of Remembrance of the Montreal Massacre. The commemoration of these women, goes beyond recognition and awareness but requires activism and change. The #16Days of Activisim against Gender Based Violence started on November 25th, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, and continues to December 10th, Human Rights Day. It is an initiative to take commemoration a step further and activate change.
What is beautiful about this time of year, is that in the spirit of giving, we can all contribute to making a change in women’s lives. You can add a donation in someone’s name as a gift or purchase a ticket to attend our annual fundraiser, WomanACT's Soul of a Warrior Awards Gala. In any form that you give this year, remember that your donations are a step in the right direction, working towards ending gender based violence.
And even if a donation is not ideal, awareness and activism are the greatest drivers of change. Share information on social media, commemorative the 16 Days and National Day of Remembrance. Use your platforms to express the significance and importance of change, because without all our collaborative voices, we will not be heard.
Take the pledge to be a part of the change to End Violence against Women and Children. In 2017, make a monthly contribution and help save lives.
